20 FEET FROM STARDOM – (2013) Background singers. I know your probably saying “who cares?” “20 Feet From Stardom” will change your whole attitude. I sought out the movie after it won the Oscar for Best Documentary and because I’m actually interested in who sang some the best parts of my favorite songs. “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones, “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Young Americans” by David Bowie are all songs with amazing background parts and all are broken down in this documentary. And, despite all the talent in the world it’s amazing some of the incredible singers featured never broke out and made it big on their own. Sadly , the film just ended a run on Netflix but is available for rental on most streaming services.
