At 20-years old, Ashley VanPevenage has something that’s common in people, adult acne.
Ashley has a make-up artist friend who tried teaching Ashley a good way to apply her make-up in order to cover-up her acne and it worked for her too. Ashley’s plain face and made up face was posted to her friend’s make-up artist page, @Makeupbydreigh along with other women’s faces.
Well, that’s not where Ashley’s picture ends no, it made it’s way to social media some months later and not to show you make-up tips, but people made memes out of her blemished picture.

Ashley made a response video to the fact that her blemished picture was memed and comments were made about her looks that weren’t nice such as, “I’ll spend time with her, as long as I never see her before 10 am,” someone wrote. Another rude comment suggesting that she’s the reason that men need to said, “swimming on the first date.”
Ashley says, “I used to entertained by many memes” but that was before she stumbled upon her own picture on IG one day and became the butt of the jokes.
“I have never been one to be uncomfortable with going out in public in my natural skin and my natural hair until this picture was posted, ” she said.
Ashley’s message to others is, “After this picture was posted and I read all these comments, I lost my confidence I didn’t like going out publicly without make-up or without my hair done…
Everyone should feel beautiful in their natural skin and it doesn’t matter what’s on the outside of your face, the only thing that matters is who you really are.”
“I hope that young girls who are dealing with acne or even adults that are dealing w/acne can feel better and confident about their face and who they are.”
The people of the Today show did a “Love you Selfie” show that told their views about how they see themselves, their awkward childhoods looks and their now flaws.
Everyone sees flaws that others don’t see and that’s what they do, they keep it real and tell us what’s obvious to them.
Watch their segment, it and see how critical they are about themselves. They’re not any different then the rest of us.
