(Edison, NJ)  —  Three public school teachers in Edison, New Jersey have been suspended without pay for making offensive comments about special education students.  At a Board of Education meeting last night, parents said they were outraged.

Maria Webber, Tyler Van Pelt and Mary Ellen Lechelt were caught during an online chat this fall insulting the kids, including calling them “morons.”  In one message, Lechelt said, “Jesus Christ, why the _blank did they place you with me?” when referring to some of her lower-performing students.  The Board of Ed has taken the first steps toward trying to revoke tenure for the teachers.
