America’s love for chicken wings is so great that there’s even a national holiday dedicated to them. Celebrated on July 29th, National Chicken Wing Day to honor its origins.

Fun facts about Americans’ love for chicken wings:

The birthplace of the Buffalo wing: Buffalo, New York is credited with creating the Buffalo wing, a staple of American dining.
The Super Bowl Sunday: 1.47 billion wings were projected to be consumed during Super Bowl LIX.

Every City Has Their Flavor: While Buffalo remains the top flavor nationally, regional variations are popular across the country. Lemon pepper is big in the Southeast, while BBQ flavors are popular from coast to coast. Honorable mentions: Garlic parmesan, teriyaki, and sweet chili.
Bone-in vs. Boneless: Boneless wings” are technically not wings (they’re made from breast or thigh meat), they’ve found their tribe, especially among younger generations. However, a majority of Americans still prefer the classic, bone-in wings.
