In Kenosha, Wisconsin, some eighth grade students took a stand against

bullying.

The Lincoln basketball boys were playing a game when they noticed

another student bullying one of their friends, cheerleader Desiree

Andrews. The boys walked off the court and told that student to leave

her alone.

Desiree isn’t just any student, she’s a cheerleader who has Down

syndrome and the bully was making fun of her and her cheering.

One of the players said, “it’s not fair when other people get treated

wrong because we’re all created the same. God made us the same way.”

Another player was asked what he learned from the experience and he

said, “All I’m gonna think is bullying is not the right way to go.

Always stand up for your friends and protect one another.”

The team has renamed the gym to D’s House after their friend Desiree.

Her nickname is “D” so it’s fitting. When asked what her family

thought of the whole thing, D said, “sweet, awesome, kind and

amazing.”
