Doeman Barrio God II Intro

Source: Bird Medina / Bird Medina

Ask any rapper with a bit of appreciation to the idea of structure and they will tell you if the intro isn’t hitting then the entire project is going to be looked at kind of funny. It’s why J. Cole’s openers go hard, Kendrick’s, 2 Chainz’s recent “Forgiven” from Rap Or Go To The League and Jay-Z is the king of them.

In Houston, there are plenty of artists who get that and with Doeman, he may drop a 13-minute EP that is heavy and I do mean heavy on lyricism but the “Intro” sets the tone. Even with Erva Carter around to settle things down with “Distance” but from “Gladiator” to “Forgiveness,” there’s outlines of pleasure, vices and more. Dodi wants to vent. Somebody, in this case producer Ichikara Valdez gave him 13 minutes to do it.
