Organizers for Free Press Summer Festival (FPSF) announced today that the eighth annual event taking place June 4 and 5 will be moved from Eleanor Tinsley Park to NRG Park (Yellow Lot; 1 NRG Park).
The temporary relocation comes following the oversaturation of Eleanor Tinsley Park after several weeks of storms compounded by heavy rains over the past 48 hours. The decision to relocate this year’s event was agreed upon with the cooperation of the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Special Events and NRG Park. Continued heavy rains have left Houston’s reservoirs at capacity, posing a potential flood risk should any further rain hit the region. While the city may see hot and dry weather in the days to come, the grounds of Eleanor Tinsley Park are saturated, and building heavy structures on soaked grounds poses a safety risk.
“While we are disappointed to move the festival again this year, we have a solid plan in place for fans to have a great FPSF experience at NRG Park. The safety of our patrons, artists and staff, as well as the preservation of Eleanor Tinsley Park are of the highest priority to all involved,” said festival co-founder, Jagi Katial.
Free Press Summer Festival will proceed as planned and all tickets will be honored at the new venue. At this time, performance schedules will remain the same, with doors opening at 11:00am both Saturday and Sunday.
