A photography campaign is taking the hallowed halls of Harvard by storm. “I, Too, Am Harvard” aims to give a collective voice to the black community on campus.

A play, created by Harvard sophomore Kimiko Matsuda-Lawrence, will debut this Friday night under the same name. The photography campaign features 63 black students, each of whom held a dry-erase board displaying insensitive remarks directed toward them about their presence on campus.

According to the Harvard Crimsonthe multimedia campaign is a way to encourage dialogue about racial inclusion on campus. The campaign was born out of 40 interviews Matsuda-Lawrence conducted last semester for an independent course of study that focused on identity and racism on the Harvard campus.

The campaign is quickly gaining recognition in national media outlets. You can view the campaign in its entirety here. In this case, a picture is worth a thousand words (and then some).
