Houston voters have rejected a $217 million bond proposal to renovate the Astrodome for the purpose of turning the historic landmark into a convention center in the Bayou City.

Fifty-three percent of voters opposed the bond proposal as of press time, with 67 percent of the votes counted.

The stadium is now in peril of demolition.
