When you think of America’s first family the last thing that comes to mind is a pericing or tattoo — and President Obama wants to keep it that way.
In a recent interview with NBC’s “Today”, the POTUS revealed his plan to deter his daughters, 14-year-old Malia and 11-year-old Sasha, from any ink-based rebellion.
“Michelle and I have used the strategy when it comes to things like tattoos – what we’ve said to the girls is, ‘If you guys ever decide you’re going to get a tattoo, then mommy and me will get the same exact tattoo in the same place. And we’ll go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo,” he said. “And our thinking is that might dissuade them from thinking that somehow that’s a good way to rebel.”
We have to hand it to the Obamas, that does sound like a good way to prevent the first daughters from visiting any tattoo parlors anytime soon.
Earlier this month, the President responded to his wife’s “slip-up,” where she described her self as a single mother.
“As somebody who has stumbled over my lines many times, I tend to cut my wife or anybody some slack when it comes to just some slips of the tongue,” he said. “But there’s no doubt there were times where Michelle probably felt like a single mom.”
He went on the say, “I know that before we got here … when I was running for the US Senate, for president, there were times where I wouldn’t see her for a week and she was still working and had to look after the girls. She definitely understands the burdens that women in particular tend to feel if they’re both responsible for child rearing and they’re responsible for working at the same time.”
