This week, the NFL officially handed down a “significant discipline” to the teams who “crossed the lines” with the officials during last weeks games.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, four coaches in the NFL received a fine in the amount $10,000.
Last Thursday, Sean Payton, the New Orleans Saints coach was flagged late in the fourth for unsportsmanlike conduct or “improperly entering the playing field” when he argued with the officials.

“I called a timeout,” Payton said Thursday. “Probably said it with a little bit more vigor than I was supposed to, but I had enough. I have to be smart than that.”
During the Seahawks game against the Jaguars, the Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was also charge with unsportsmanlike conduct late in the fourth or “improperly entering the playing field” as his fine states.
Whereas the two Jaguars coaches, offensive line coach Pat Flaherty and their wide receiver coach Keenan McCardell were part of an “ugly” late game altercation.
On Monday, Troy Vincent, NFL executive vice president of football operations, a memo was sent to all the 32 NFL teams, warning them that anyone who engages in “offensive contact or conduct” towards the officiating crew will be eligible to “significant discipline.”
