Just days before the draft starts, The former University of Texas Longhorn running back D’Onta Forman spoke with NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer discussing himself and tear jerking details of when he lost his baby boy, D’Onta, Jr.
D’Onta’s baby was born prematurely at 23 weeks, on September 16, weighing only 15 ounces and he survived for 50 days in the neonatal intensive ward.

D’Onta says that his son, D’Onta, Jr., got sick with an infection that was in his intestines and he passed on November 5, 2016. The day of his son’s passing, D’Onta and the Longhorns played a game at Texas Tech.
That game against the Red Raiders, D’Onta played his best career game with a career high 341 yards and three touchdowns.
“It was just something about that game, it was like, ‘I’m going it for my son. I’m leaving it all out there,'” he said.
D’Onta said that after the Longhorns win over Texas Tech, he and his teammate and twin brother, Armanti started coming home to Texas City to see his baby.
On his drive home he called him mother and she told him that within that same hour, his son had passed away.
“I really didn’t know how to feel,” he said. “I was like numb. I felt like something was taken away from me before I had a chance to experience it.”
Recently, D’Onta an his girlfriend Carissa McGaskey found out that they were having another baby… and they also found out that her due date is on Sept. 16too, D’Onta, Jr.’s birthday.
“I’m excited, but I’m worried. I’m worried about you know, not having to go thru that same situation again,” D’Onta said.
And D’Onta wants to be clear to say, “He’ll never be replaced, never gonna be replaced.”
The former University of Texas Longhorn rb, D’Onta Foreman announced that he was entering the 2107 NFL Draft in his Junior year.
