For reasons unknown, rapper Wiz Khalifa decided to pay a visit to the gravesite of the late notorious drug cartel leader Pablo Escobar during his visit to Medellin Colombia.
In case you don’t know who he is, Pablo Escobar was known for a variety of things… He had a quick rise to the top of the narco world and was responsible for supplying the United States with an estimated 80% of smuggled cocaine which landed him the nickname, “The King of Cocaine.”
During his rise to top of the narco world, Escobar made it onto Forbes 10 most wealthiest criminals at the time with his making of millions a day.
During his time, Escobar was responsible for a large amount of violence in and around Medellin when he kidnapped, bribed, killed and blew up buildings killing people in the 1980’s and 1990’s until his death.
The Mayor of Medellin, Federico Gutierrez, saw the pictures that Wiz posted on social media and he told the BBC, that Wiz needed to apologize for glamorizing the late Pablo Escobar’s narco life and the lack of sensitivity that he showed towards the victims and their families.
“It shows that this guy has never had to suffer from the violence inflicted by these drug traffickers,” Mayor Gutierrez said.
People are even commenting, one Twitter response said, “It’s embarrassing that @wizkhalifa honors Pablo Escobar. What a lack of respect with the people of Colombia.”
According to the BBC, Escobar is “responsible for 4,000 killings, including the bombing of an airliner in which all of 107 people on board were killed.”
In Wiz IG pictures, he’s showing his respect to Escobar while smoking and standing near Escobar’s gravesite and a picture of the flowers with a joint that he placed on his headstone.
