Houston joins the global community in paying well-deserved respect to the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela in Remembering Mandela: A Life Celebrated! A Life Emulated!

Remembering Mandela will be a city-wide event purposed to attract thousands of Houstonians of all ages. The inspirational program will feature a diverse 300-voice choir as well as a cadre of leaders who will stand in an uncommon representation of unity. Attendees are encouraged to share moments with hashtag, #MandelaHOU.

Event organizers and supporters include our region’s leading clergy and community leaders. At time of release, the list includes Dr. William A. Lawson, Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza, Rabbi Samuel Karff, Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, Dr. John Bisagno, Dr. F.N. Williams, Dr. Ed Young, Pastor Kerry Shook, Bishop James Dixon,II, Mayor Annise Parker, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressman Al Green, Representative Sylvester Turner, Sheriff Adrian Garcia, Ambassador Arthur Schechter, Dr. John Rudley, Nate Levy, Darryl King, and William Traylor.

“When Nelson Mandela passed, the world lost the best of humanity among us. This event is purposed to inform and inspire multiple generations to celebrate and emulate this noble man’s life,” shared Bishop James Dixon.
