Meek Mill may have gotten some sound advice at the eleventh hour, thanks to Jay-Z.

Meek was originally set to go to the White House to discuss prison reform at a Prison Reform Summit hosted by Donald Trump. Participants are to include members of Congress, various activists, and victims of the system.

However, Hov called Meek Thursday night and convinced him that meeting with Trump could be a problematic look not just for him but for the fight for criminal justice reform period. Meek also reportedly got calls from other high-profile African-Americans voicing their concerns with the meeting as well.

“I was originally scheduled to be part of a panel on Prison Reform at the White House to help shed light on the issues within the system,” Meek told TMZ. “Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and Myself which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today’s discussions.”

He continued, “As a result, I decided not to attend so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantIy I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system.”

Meek was released from prison on bail last month after serving nearly five months following a highly controversial sentence for violating his probation last summer.
