Urban One Houston Celebrates Women’s History Month

This annual celebration highlights the contributions of women in history and contemporary society.
Urban One Houston welcomes the opportunity to highlight outstanding women from the past, present and those that are on the road to be outstanding in the future.
The #MeToo Movement has inspired women from all nationalities and backgrounds to come to the front.
This is a Celebration of Women, from a local and national levels, that have made
great strides in the community with their outreach, poetry, motivational speaking and politics.

Rain is a published author, national slam poet/spoken word artist, playwright and actress; and the proprietor of “RAW EMOTIONS ENTERTAINMENT”.

Her most notable accolade is a commercial that was built around a poem that she wrote for KHOU Channel 11. The commercial was aired during the SuperBowl.
The commercial also earned airtime during the Grammys. This poem won the 2016 Eye on Excellence Award as well as the Lone Star State Emmys.
Rain is the voice and writer of the Hurricane Harvey relief commercial on KHOU – 11 and has appeared in KTRK – 13 News commercials as well.

Rain is the Coach and 2018 Slam Champ for the Gawd Slam! Poetry Team and the 4 year Word Around Town Artist.
While expounding and sharing on her gifts, Rain teaches artist at the Alley Theatre, grades 4-12 creative writing, performance and the technique of Slam Poetry.
Over the last 8 years she has performed in various venues locally and state to state. She has emcee’d a weekly poetry and music show alongside legendary DJ Robert “Showbiz” Mosley on KCOH Radio.

The Houston Chronicle reviewed Rain as one of Houston’s most talented artist.
Among her accomplishments, Rain was selected for a poetic performance for R. Kelly, “Artist of the Month” in Dialogue Magazine, and performed at the 5th Annual Event of the Redefinition Experience at the Ensemble Theatre.

She currently attends the University of Houston where she is majoring in Communication. Go Coogs!!!!
