One of these days, LeBron James will finally do the long-rumored and discussed Space Jam sequel. Until then, King James and his SpringHill Entertainment production company want another piece of ’90s nostalgia to dig into.
The duo are spearheading a new House Party. Yes, the same House Party crafted by Reginald Hudlin in 1990 that introduced the world to Kid and Play and … gave a more adult feel to Kid ‘n Play. What’s even better? Stephen Glover, Donald’s brother and one of the lead voices behind Atlanta will write the screenplay along with Jamal Olori.
But don’t get it twisted, this isn’t a reboot by any means.
“This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James told The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.” Carter added, “We’re trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project.”
