Netflix launched an incredibly powerful new campaign called #FirstTimeISawMe – about the importance of representation in entertainment. Acclaimed actress Viola Davis joined the initiative as well on Twitter to speak to the first time she saw herself on screen.

In the visual, check out Ava DuVernay, Logan Browning, Spike Lee, Marlon Wayans, Selenis Leyva, Marque Richardson and Jackie Cruz.

Netflix has created more than 1,000 hours of original content (Dear White People, Chewing Gum, She’s Gotta Have It, Orange is the New Black, etc.), this year so far that are multi-layered, unique and cover intersectional stories, which shed light on so many diverse walks of life.
