NBC’s new dance show World of Dance revealed today that American Ballet Theater’s first African-American principal dancer Misty Copeland will be a guest judge.

Copeland will join NBC’s high-rated competition as a judge alongside Ne-Yo, Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and host Dewan Tatum on July 18th and 25th, for round three of the competition called “The Cut” where competitors will face the deepest and most intense cut of the season.

During this round more than half of the acts will be sent packing, and only two of the top two acts from each division will remain.

World of Dance judge and executive producer had this to say about Copeland be a guest judge:

“When judging the best of the best, we knew we needed an all-star guest judge with passion and credibility to mentor these incredible dancers. Misty Copeland is at the top of her game and we are so honored that she was able to lend her expertise and experience to the ‘World of Dance’ stage.” 

World of Dance is enjoying great success in its inaguural season, the show has averaged a 2.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.7 million viewers in “live plus same day” making it the #2  entertainment series of the summer to date.
