The Oxford Dictionary made the decision to add the word “Stan” to their dictionary.
We know that this word is derived from the 2002 song “Stan” that Eminem and artist Dido did regarding an overzealous fan named Stan who wrote a letter to the artist.
In the dictionary, the word “Stan” is going to be both an informal noun (“An overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity”) and an informal verb (“Be an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity”).

The dictionary also has lists the origin of the word “Stan” as saying, “Early 21st century: probably with allusion to the 2000 song “Stan” by the American rapper Eminem, about an obsessed fan.”
They also have a sentence example for the noun version saying, “He has millions of stans who are obsessed with him and call him a rap god.”,
The “rap god” part is in reference to Eminem’s 2013 song “Rap God.”
Of course this isn’t the first artist to get their words added to the Oxford English Dictionary too. Of course we know that Kanye’s “cray” was added and is frequently used to date, Drake’s “YOLO” and even Beyoncé’s “Bootylicious” are included in the dictionary.
