Yesterday morning Grammy-winning Chance the Rapper tweeted about his scheduled meeting with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner to discuss education in Chicago.
“I’m meeting privately with the governor Wednesday. The two of us will address funding education in Chicago. I’m eager to hear his ideas.”
After his tweet, the Governor’s office Twitter page sent a tweet back to Chance saying, “Looking forward to hearing your ideas, too.”
Talks of a meeting began Feb. 13 when the Gov. Rauner sent a congrats tweeted to Chance for his 3 Grammys that he won.
“Congrats to @Chancetherapper for making history as independent artist and taking home 3 Grammys. IL is proud that you’re one of our own.“
After this tweet, Chance sent, “Thank you Governor, I would love to have meeting with you this week if possible.”
It’s no doubt that Chance was to help the education over there… the Chicago Public Schools are currently suing Gov. Rauner and state education officials.
The lawsuit is Brown v. Board of Education civil rights and it was filed on the behalf of black and hispanic families. They are suing the IL Gov. saying that IL funds schools violates the civil rights of the “predominantly minority students’ population.”
Let’s hope that Chance the Rapper can get something done that will help the schools.
