Today, our FOTUS Michelle Obama gave her final White House speech before the Obamas leave office.
During her speech she wanted to give thanks to her many supporters and said, “being your first lady has been the greatest honor of my life and I hope I’ve made you proud.”
“I want our young people to know that they matter, that they belong,” Michelle said, her voice cracking during her speech. “So don’t be afraid. You hear me, you people? Don’t be afraid. Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered. Empower yourself with a good education. Then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of you boundless promise. Lead by example with hope; never fear.”

She also says, “Know that I will be with you. Rooting for you and working to support you for the rest of my life.”
This day was set to honor the 2017 School Counselor of the year, Terri Tchorzynski.
During the ceremony, FOTUS talks about all the hard work educators do for their students and by using her and POTUS, she tells the children that “with a lot hard work they can do anything is possible, even become President.”
During her time in the White House, Michelle Obama strongly campaigned for education, fitness and military families.. she did the Let’s Move! for children to get out and as a fight against obesity in the youth.
She ends with tears and a choked up voice and she tells the counselors around her, “I want to close the day by simply saying ‘thank you’. Thank you for everything you do for our kids and our country.”
