According to the NY Daily News, missing 19-year-old Nayla Kidd may have “fallen off the grid.”
The newspaper reported that Kidd deleted her Facebook page and changed her cellphone and bank account numbers before she disappeared. The police believe that by doing so, it will be very difficult to track her down.
Her family told the press that this behavior is out of character. “This is not Nayla,” her mother La Creis Kidd told Channel 2 news.
It’s unknown if Kidd was kidnapped or disappeared on her own accord.

Nayla Kidd, a college sophomore at Columbia University has gone missing, ABC 7 reported.
The engineering student hasn’t been seen or heard from since May 5 when she was seen studying. Yet, when she didn’t show up for her final exams, it raised an alarm.
“Nayla had published scientific research. Her grades are very important to her — to have her not show up to her finals is very troubling. That is not like Nayla — she loves to go to school,” close family friend Alesha Wood told the Washington Post.
Her mother La Creis Kidd wasn’t worried at first, but when Nayla didn’t call her on Mother’s Day, she became seriously concerned, the Post noted.
Wood added, “Her daughter is very gracious when it comes to gifts and communicating her love to her. They have a really close bond, almost like a sister-type relationship.”
Columbia University issued a statement on Friday: “Our community is deeply concerned whenever a student is missing. The University is in contact with Nayla Kidd’s family and is cooperating with the New York Police Department. We are working together to locate Nayla and urge anyone with any information that would be helpful to contact Columbia Public Safety at 212-854-5555or the NYPD 26th Precinct Detective Squad at 212-678-1351.”
Kidd has been described as a “loving and free-spirited” young woman who taught a belly dancing class at school and ran track in high school.
