Windmill Village in North Fort Meyers, Florida has threaten to evict Jan Malaspino. The woman hasn’t been late with her rent or caused any type of disturbance, she’s simply allowing her daughter and grand daughter to live with her.

Malaspino’s 8-year-old granddaughter, Amani Norton has been diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer. After two surgeries, doctors found three additional tumors and she’s currently undergoing 16 weeks of chemotherapy.

Amani’s mother, Jaimi Norton shared that she hasn’t been able to work in over two months because of her daughter’s illness and she needs her mother’s help to also care for her other kids.

“I have no income so we’re just staying here while [Amani] was sick because it’s easier,” said Jaimi.

Unfortunately, the housing complex where Malaspino lives is a 55+ senior living facility that has a strict policy about guests that do not meet the age requirement.

“The office said ‘I hear your children, grandchildren, are staying with you.’ And I said ‘Yes, ’cause she has cancer’ and they said ‘Well, that don’t matter. She’s got to get out,’” recalled Malaspino.

Despite the grandmother explaining the extenuating circumstances, she claimed that the housing office gave her seven days to move her family out of the facility and if not, she will receive a 30-day eviction notice.

Amani shared that she would like the Make A Wish Foundation to help bless her family with a home.
