There were some great moments from last night’s Oscars ceremony, but there 5 key missed opportunities (according to me)…
- Sylvester Stallone Not Winning – It would have been the perfect Cinderella or “Rocky” story – actor wins after being nominated for same role 40 years ago. “Rocky” gets knocked down one last time. I was actually a little depressed afterwards…speaking of depressing…
- In Memoriam Snubs – its bad enough dying – but to be snubbed by your industry after years of great work…Abe Vigoda “The Godfather” and Tony Burton “Duke” from six “Rocky” movies were two of those left out.
- Sam Smith Winning – I was surprised his Bond song was actually nominated…it beat the Weeknd and Lady Gaga (especially after her heartfelt performance) – C’mon…
- Star Wars Shut Out – It was the best movie-going experience of the year…and the sound was incredible- give it at least one technical award…enough with the “Mad Max”
- Alejandro Iñarritu Speech Drowned Out – After winning Best Director for his second year in a row, “The Revenant” director was giving an inspirational speech about diversity only to be drowned out by music…twitter went off…you gotta read these things better Oscars!
