Special Treat had a huge song back in the late 80’s that occasionally I still hear people talk about.
“You Said It Was Love” was the ode to recanted love. You know, the promise of everlasting love to only have the love of your life love another.
The song has a New Jack Swing styled slow groove with heavy bass and an 80’s sounding sax solo for good measure. It’s reminiscent of LL Cool J‘s I Need Love. The song evokes that Cool J emotion but it has a cute little singing hook.
I tried to find info about the group but other than them possibly being out of Houston, it’s seems as if they’ve vanished into that vacuum of Houston one-hit wonderdom, but it’s still one of the H-Town Hip-Hop Classics.
