Ricardo Medina Jr. – the actor best known for his role as Deker, the Red Power Ranger from Power Rangers Samurai – has been arrested for the murder of his roommate, according to the Huffington Post.

Medina has been charged with killing his Green Valley, Ariz. roommate Josh Sutter with a samurai sword. The murder occurred in February 2015, but the actor was never charged due to lack of evidence. Nevertheless, police continued to dig into the incident, which occurred during an argument over Medina’s girlfriend.

Medina initially told police that he and his girlfriend retreated back to his bedroom, and when Sutter forced his way in, Medina attacked him with his sword. Sutter’s family didn’t believe the story; their son was the one with defensive wounds on his hands and most of the blood was found outside of Medina’s room, rather than inside it.

Medina was the one who called the police, and he was immediately taken into custody, but later released. He said he was “very, very, very sorry for what occurred.”

The 38-year-old is now facing the possibility of life in prison, with a minimum sentence of 26 years.
