Billboard released it’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart wins for 2015 dominated by Drake, The Weeknd, Fetty Wap, and more.
Music veterans such as D’Angelo and Janet Jackson joined new artists like iLoveMemphis & Rae Sremmurd on the charts.
Drake ranks as the top R&B/Hip-Hop artist of the year with his surprise “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” album. The Weeknd ranks as the #2 R&B/Hip-Hop artist dominated the charts with hits like “The Hills,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey).” At the beginning of 2015 The Weeknd had 12 concurrently charting songs which is the most ever for a non-rapper.
Fetty Wap came in as the #3 R&B/Hip-Hop artist followed by Nicki Minaj as # 4.
D’Angelo and Dr. Dre also returned to the charts after almost 15-year absences. D’Angelo’s album “Black Messiah” finishes as the #12 R&B/Hip-Hop Album. Dr. Dre’s “Compton” album opened up at #1 on the weekly R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and closed the year out as the #8 album.
