Man Hold Up! All the nominations from 2015 The Hatta Awards have been released! Of course, all MHMS fans are anticipating the “HALL OF FAME MORNING SHOW BIT” category…here’s a breakdown of the nominees…

“VALENTINE’S LOVE” – NOIR A.K.A. HATTA – The solo project of one-half of the most famous bi-racial singing groups in the world “Noir Y Blanco,” Noir produced this lush lusty auto-tuned ballad for lovers on February 14th, 2007. Little did he know it would turn into a classic and be played every year since its debut.  This is the favorite to take the first Hall of Fame Bit  prize.

“WHAT IF (BLACK HISTORY PLAY)”- MHMS STAFF –  Since it premiered in 2010 – the “What If” has made a big impact every February (BLACK HISTORY MONTH) since.  The play portrays a world where African-American inventors and innovators did not exist. Narrated by Bishop Beazy and brilliantly acted by Hatta as the “Old Man,” “What if…” is requested by teachers and parents  to help teach Black History in a truly original way.  As for its chances of winning “What if…” could garner the older vote and possibly snag the HOF nod.

“KRUNK XMAS”- LIL RON AND THE WISEMEN (MHMS CREW) – In 2004, “Krunk Xmas” first hit the Madd Hatta Morning Show and has been a staple ever since.  It’s a Krunk anthem that is four songs in one: “SANTA AND HIS HO’S AGAIN” “RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED SNITCH” “AIN’T GONNA GO TO HOOD FOR XMAS” and “”SHAKE IT FOR SANTA.”  With its impact and longevity, “Krunk Xmas” could possibly upset and take the big prize. If it doesn’t win ‘TSK TSK TSK.”

“TAKS/STAAR TEST SONG“-JMAC/ JIMBO – This truly is a song that has touched generations of kids.  Whether its the TAKS or STAAR test,  Jmac’s chant “MAKE SURE YOU EAT GOOD, LISTEN TO YOUR MAMA…” has helped eased the tension for million of kids throughout the years on testing days.  And, who could forget the hook- “READ OR WRITE YOU BETTER DO IT RIGHT- YOU BETTA PASS THAT TAKS TEST- PASS THAT TAKS TEST.”  A sentimental pick to win.

“ROCKETS RED GLARE” – THE AT THUGZ – In 2009, the Houston Rockets made the playoffs for the first time in a long time.  To celebrate the Atascocita Thugz, the hardest suburban rap group out of the big A, released “Rockets Red Glare.” The song famously samples University of Houston/Olympic track legend Carl Lewis’ off-key performance of the National Anthem.  “Red Glare” was in power rotation during the playoff run and its Badamation video was a hit on YouTube.  Sports fans and AT Thug fans may just put this one in the Hall of Fame.
