While the Friday after Thanksgiving is considered the unofficial launch of the holiday shopping season, most of the folks hitting the stores on Black Friday won’t be buying gifts. The latest Consumer Reports Holiday Shopping Poll shows 66-percent of Americans making purchases will be picking up something for themselves. Just under 30-percent of those surveyed note they plan to head out to the malls and shopping centers this weekend, but Friday isn’t the only day they’ll be out. While 28-percent will be making cash registers ring on Black Friday, 29-percent intend to shop this Saturday or Sunday. Roughly seven out of ten shoppers will be looking for clothing or electronics, and these purchases will likely be for themselves. However, 56-percent are shopping for toys and 46-percent have video games and accessories are on their gift lists. Just under half will be picking up gift cards.
