Muir Fine Art Gallery will host a fabulous “Cinema, Canvas & Cuisine” event benefitting Valvisions Foundation. The event will include a showing of the internationally acclaimed “Healing Magdalene” at Studio Movie Grill, an art show at Muir featuring work by renowned artist Tom duBois, and delicious cuisine provided by Eddie V’s.

David Winans Jr., eldest brother of the Grammy winning gospel family, The Winans, will be coming to Houston to support Muir Fine Art Gallery in this special event. He is introducing his song, “Find the Water” which will be performed by the Dancers In White, who have choreographed a special routine for “Cinema, Canvas & Cuisine.” “Find the Water” speaks to the plight of the African girls and families who are fleeing their homes in Africa to find a better life.

Produced and directed by Donna L. Valverde of Valvisions Foundation, “HEALING MAGDALENE” is a film that creates awareness of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Although FGM is most prevalent in certain rural communities across Africa, many of us know of someone harmed by this detrimental practice. More than 125 million girls and women alive today have been “cut,” with as many as 2 million suffering through the procedure each year. There will be a Q&A with Valverde immediately following the film.

From there, guests will be treated to an art exhibition by duBois who has created an exclusive collection for the event. Eddie V’s will be serving lunch. Tickets are available at https://cinemacanvasandcuisine.eventbrite.com
