FATEMA FARDAN FALL/WINTER 2015

As I walked into Voce Di Gallery in Soho, New York, an old metal workshop turned design studio and event space – I immediately felt as if I had traveled back in time to my favorite eras in fashion history; the 50’ and 60’s. A time when style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy left lasting impressions on Americans with their conservative yet easily recognizable fashion signatures.

I sipped on a cocktail from the open bar while perusing the vintage inspired 2015 Fall Winter Collection by Fatema Fardan, an Emirati fashion designer. The collection perfectly combined femininity and romance with its modest tea length chiffon dresses, high neck lines and a-line skirts catching the eye of modern day style icon celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe. She arrived to Voce Di in a voluminous wine colored long haired lamb’s wool jacket very similar to a bright red fox fur jacket paired with ¾ length palazzo pants from Fatema’s collection. The bright colored fur acted as a vivid contrast to the collections more subdued color pallet.

Each look was strategically placed along two walls of vertical flower gardens on the east and west sides of the 5,000 sf space further complementing the lines romantic approach. The event was hosted by Julia Restoin Roitfeld, blogger, model and daughter of past Vogue Editor Carine Roitfield. Fatema’s fashion presentation did a beautiful job showcasing a prominent piece of fashion history re-imagined.

Check out a few of our favorite looks from the show.
