Mannie Fresh said in an interview with Associate Press that he thinks that Lil Wayne has outgrown the Cash Money label. Fresh thinks that creatively, Weezy is being held back and that there is something bigger and better out there for him.
Fresh said, “I just think Wayne is growing as an artist. Wayne has given us some great albums, but he has never given us that album with like a Justin Timberlake on it- with features where like, OK, this is what we expect from an artist of you caliber.. like you went out and got Cher on the song because you are that dude. You’re on that level.”

Fresh also stated the fact that Cash Money artists generally work within the label, with each other and that Weezy is probably just ready to move on to making music with other artists besides the same ones at that he’s already worked with over and over. Fresh said, “I think he’s going — real talk– I could probably use Drake and Nicki, but I’ve done that so many times. Let’s get out there and do things so I can show that I am bigger than life.”
