Back in June 2014, the Beastie Boys won their lawsuit against the Monster energy drink.

The lawsuit was copyright infringement for a 2012 ad that ran primarily online. The ad was a Canadian snowboarding competition with Beastie Boys songs playing in the background.

Monster was not licensed to play any Beastie Boy songs.

They also had the worlds “RIP MCA” to the video after Adam “MCA” Yauch had passed away. At no time did MCA ever give permission for his name or image to be used.

The lawsuit win was $1.7 Million and now the Beastie Boys are looking to get more money.

They are looking to sue for $2.4 Million because “Monster refused to engage in a good-faith negations” and they also are said to have used other tactics that drove up the cost of litigation.
