Lifetime’s ratings are about to go through the roof with the premiere of their TV film “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B.” However, they have some explaining to do…

The first visuals to the highly anticipated telepic were released earlier this week, but to much dismay, fans were surprised to hear Iggy Azaela’s vocals instead of Aaliyah’s. We could have sworn the biopic was about Aaliyah, so why isn’t Aaliyah’s music in the trailer?

According to Billboard, “Lifetime almost certainly couldn’t license an actual Aaliyah song for the trailer” which is most-likely at the hands of Aaliyah’s family — who’ve protested production of the film since it was first announced. NecoleBitchie reports, the film will not feature ANY music from Babygirl.

Disney star Zendaya Coleman was originally cast as Aaliyah, but dropped out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. Actress, Alexandra Shipp took her place.
