Apparently fashion designer Patrick Robinson was booted from A/X Armani Exchange. Although the news is creating some serious buzz on the Internet, he was allegedly fired weeks ago, according to Page Six, because some of his designs were strikingly similar to New York-based jewelry company David Yurman.

You might remember Patrick from his GAP days were he designed the popular 1969 denim line. After struggling sales, he was dismissed from his lead role after just three years with the iconic denim brand. Looks like Patrick will be updating his resume once again.

Sources say that Patrick was let go abruptly because his collection with Armani was not selling well. But others are speculating that all of this confusion is stemming from a charity bracelet that he created for the Armani Exchange’s men’s collection made from recycled bullets and handguns, with proceeds going to nonprofit Liberty United to fight gun violence.

Armani Exchange was allegedly notified by David Yurman that those bracelets were all too similar to Yurman’s iconic cable cuff bracelets. There may have even been an official legal letter demanding Armani to stop selling the bracelets. #MESSY

Of course everyone is declining to comment on this story so we might not ever know exactly how this went down.

Patrick is a graduate of Parsons School of Design and has worked for Giorgio Armani, Perry Ellis, Anne Klein and Paco Rabanne so he shouldn’t have too much of an issue getting a new gig. Plus his wife, Virginia Smith, is Vogue’s market director for fashion and accessories.
