rafflesuspects(HUMBLE, TX) — Police said two children were dropped off to sell fake raffle tickets along a busy highway, and two adults were jailed over it.

According to Humble police, an officer saw two kids soliciting in the 100 block of the East FM 1960 Bypass around 8 p.m. Thursday. When police approached the children, they found they were selling fake raffle tickets for cash.

Both children were detained, and their guardians were contacted.

Police said a man and woman left the children in the 20000 block of Highway 59 around 6 p.m., telling them to sell the fake tickets and make their way down to the 19600 block of Highway 59 where they would be picked up at a later time.

The kids were released to their father, David Walls Jr.

Melissa Walls and Oquinta Brown were each charged with abandoning/endangering a child younger than 15.

It’s unclear how the suspects are related to the children.
