Now that we’ve officially moved beyond April 1st, we can confidently say that the debut of “Chiquis Confidential” that crashed chiquisonline.com moments before air time was no April Fool’s joke.

The mini-series was set to premiere at 3 p.m. PT. The web series was launched by Chiquis Rivera, daughter of the late singer Jenni Rivera. The overwhelming number of viewers who tried to tune in to the initial episode apparently brought the site down.

“It’s a good thing,” said Richard Bull of The Sixth House, who manages Rivera. “That’s what happens when a server gets hit that very second. Everything becomes affected.”

Viewers were eventually able to tune in. “Chiquis Confidential” will stream on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays spanning 16 weeks and 48 episodes.

Rivera has said that the series has helped her take steps toward healing in the aftermath of her famous mother’s death.

“I’ve come to realize that sharing my feelings with others is helping me heal the wound that I don’t think I’ll ever completely get over, but I do want to start that process,” Rivera said.
