The headline act for the 20th anniversary edition of the Essence Festival held annually in New Orleans has been announced. Organizers said today that Prince will be the featured performer for the various concerts at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. He last performed at the Independence Day weekend festival in 2004. Other acts will be announced at a later date.
