Traveling is something I love to do.  I’ve made it a goal to visit at least one foreign country a year.  This past August I was fortunate enough to visit the beautiful country of Colombia.  I visited Medellin, the coastal town of Cartagena, Parque Tayrona, the national state park, and finished my visit in the capital, Bogota.  Below is a breakdown.

Medellin – 2 nights
Cartagena – 3 nights
Parque Tayrona – 1 night (camped out on the beach)
Bogota – 4 nights

In this post I’m going to share info and pictures from the coastal town of Cartagena.  If you want to know about Medellin, check out my previous post here.

For my three night stay in Cartagena, we rented out a house off of AirBnB (this is a great option if you are traveling with a group of friends;  it tends to be cheaper than a hotel, you get to live among the locals, and immerse yourself in the culture).

Cartagena, a gorgeous fishing village on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, has excellent beaches, a historic old town (that’s entirely walkable) and beautiful colonial architecture. It’s also one of the safest places in the country, so it’s no wonder it’s a popular port of call for cruise ships. VIA tripadvisor
