A pre-school teacher in Buffalo, New York, sent a note home with her students for the parents.  Basically saying, “Hey parents, clean up your funky child before they get to school because it’s hard for me to teach them when they all funky.”

Ms. Perry Dunnigan of the Build Academy didn’t actually say it like that but basically she did.  Here’s what she said in the note she sent home.

“Several children aged 3-4 are coming to school (sometimes daily) with soiled, stained, or dirty clothes. Some give off unpleasant smells and some appear unclean and unkept. It is a health and safety concern. It also makes it difficult for me to be close to them or even want to touch them.”

Ouch!  You know some parents went off.  They thought it was insensitive that all the kids, even the clean ones, were given this note.  Parents also thought it was insensitive to tell a child they should bathe.

But if the little stinker was a little stinker…shouldn’t the parents be informed?

By the way, the Buffalo School Board has “concluded that Perry Dunnigan should receive punishment.” What will the punishment be?  Time will tell.

Was the teacher wrong or right?
