Real Urban Ministry, Inc., 501(c)3 under the direction of Rev. Dr. Robert McKinley Gilmore, Sr. seeks to organize a trip for selected Houston area youth groups to attend and participate in the 50th Anniversary, August 2013, March on Washington themed “National Action To Realize The Dream”. Our goal is to support the “I Have A Dream” message given by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1963, to help Houston-area youth in “Fulfilling the Dream” and not lead to a “Dream Deferred”.
Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder/President of the National Action Network, Inc and the Rev. Martin Luther King, III are Co-Conveners, along with a expanding list of National Organizations from the A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) to the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSME). Rev. Bernice King, President of the Martin Luther King Center for Social Change, has organized five-day events, with youth-related trainings and forums; the commemorative March on Washington is slated for Saturday, August 24, 2013.
Rev. Dr. Gilmore, Sr. organized Real Urban Ministry, Inc., in 1992 to provide charitable services or facilities to other organizations, including discussion groups, forums, panels, lectures, missionary activities, instruction and training. The goal is to collect tax-deductible donations to fund travel and accommodations for these youth groups to attend two-days of event. Please be a part of this historical and momentous occasion through your donation to Real Urban Ministry, Inc. in support of youth enrichment, leadership skills and development. In 1963, there were 22 million in poverty; in 2013 the estimate is 60 million Americans in poverty. The 2013 March on Washington theme is to “Renew the Fight for Equality and Justice”, with recent Supreme Court decisions and the struggle for continued human and civil rights, we must not be comfortable in thinking that the past can ever return.
We need your donation today to help secure transportation and housing accommodations, please contact us today so that several Houston Texas youth organizations will be represented on August 24, 2013 for the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington, as we “Renew the Fight for Equality and Justice” in America. Please contact us today and make this a Historical Journey our youth will never forget. Every step now, together, in this effort to develop and encourage young minds is a step toward “Fulfilling the Dream” of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
