If you ever wondered where all the money goes after you’ve donated to your favorite AIDS charity or participated in an AIDS walk…well here ya go! Today doctors reported the first case of a baby being cured of AIDS.  After an aggressive regimen of meds at early birth, doctors noticed a steady decrease of the virus in the baby girls blood stream. The cure is being called a ‘functional’ since the virus is not all together diminished from the body, but the presence of it can no longer be traced in the childs blood tests.

The only fully cured AIDS patient recognized worldwide is the so-called “Berlin patient,” American Timothy Brown. He is considered cured of HIV and leukemia five years after receiving bone marrow transplants from a rare donor naturally resistant to HIV. The marrow transplant was aimed at treating his leukemia.
