(Undated)  —  A recent interview in Germany’s “Der Spiegel” magazine is likely to raise some eyebrows due to comments on cloning made by Harvard professor George Church.  The 58-year-old genetics professor says recent advances in science could make it possible to clone a Neanderthal baby.  Church says the Neanderthal genome has already been mapped, and the procedure exists to create stem cells that, with each generation, would move closer and closer to the Neanderthal gene.  Church says the biggest hurdle to his plan would be finding a, quote, “extremely adventurous female human” to serve as a surrogate mother to his Neanderthal clone.
