Boxer Orlando Cruz beat Jorge Pazos by unanimous decision in his first fight since reporting he was gay earlier this month. Cruz certainly had a lot on his mind in the weeks leading up to the fight as boxing’s first openly gay fighter and the first active male athlete to come out in a major sport.

Any reservations Cruz had about how he would be received was put to rest as he walked to the ring. He was greeted with a cheering crowd waving flags from his native Puerto Rico. This continued a theme of overwelming support for Cruz since he made his announcement two weeks ago.
