The Muppets are hitting the streets, and this time they’re making their way well past “Sesame Street.”  Michael Bellavia, president of Los Angeles animation studio Animax Entertainment, says his “Million Muppet March” demonstration is scheduled to take place at the National Mall in Washington, DC on November 3rd — just a few days before the presidential election.  Bellavia, who organized the event alongside Idaho university student Chris Mecham, says they’ll be showing support for Big Bird and public broadcasting in general, following Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s pledge to end the U.S. federal government’s subsidy for the Public Broadcasting Service.  And while they probably won’t actually attract a million people, Bellavia says they’ll likely come close to the “biggest ever assemblage of puppets in one place, and probably the most ever puppets marching Washington.”
