(Undated)   —  The 7th annual “Dump the Pump Day” is today.  The American Public Transportation Association and other groups are encouraging people to use public transportation.  APTA is partnering with The Sierra Club, The National Resources Defense Council and public transportation systems from coast to coast in the effort to get people to save themselves from high gasoline prices.  The APTA points out that riding public transit is an economical way to save money at a time when the cost of filling a gas tank is so high.  According to the latest APTA Transit Savings Report, a two-person household which downsizes to one car can save an average of ten thousand dollars a year.  National Dump the Pump Day encourages people to take a bus or train instead of driving.
