Five-time Grammy winner Lauryn Hill has been charged skipping out on her paying her taxes for 3 years, the U.S. attorney’s office in New Jersey announced Thursday. According to TMZ, Hill who earned more than $1.6 million during 2005, 2006 and 2007, failed to file returns for those years.
She could get up to one year in prison for each count and $300,000 in fines.

Hill is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.
The 37-year-old singer got her start with The Fugees and began her solo career in 1998 with the critically acclaimed album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”
