(New York, NY) — Actor Robert De Niro is feeling the heat after he made a racially-tinged joke about the First Lady at a fundraiser for President Obama. The Oscar-winner reportedly said, “Callista Gingrich, Karen Santorum, Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a White first lady.” The audience is reported to have laughed at the event held in New York City Monday night. However, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama may not be laughing. The First Lady’s campaign secretary Olivia Alair said, “We believe the joke was inappropriate.” GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is also not laughing. He calls De Niro’s joke “inexcusable.” He says President Obama should apologize for the actor’s behavior. Robert De Niro issued a statement saying he did not mean to offend anyone.
