The music of the late Tupac Shakur is heading to Broadway. Director Kenny Leon tells PBS that he’s working on a musical titled “Holler If Ya Hear Me” that will be inspired by the rap icon’s hit songs. Leon explains that he started getting involved in the project several years ago after discussing the musical with Tupac’s mom. He says he’s always thought of Tupac as a “prophet,” and believes that “if everybody could hear his worlds and hear his stories, they would see what I see.” “Holler If Ya Hear Me” is set to begin casting on March 10th. A premiere date hasn’t been set, but Leon says he hopes that it will be up and running “a year from now.”
